Violet has magical talent. She can levitate, walk through glass, and be in two places at one time. What happens when Violet discovers true magic in the arms of a new man?

Luke Kemble enjoys the luxury of having Violet, all of her magic and all of her beauty, all to himself. What happens to Luke's illusion of reality when he and the love of his life are threatened by another man, a dangerous one that holds grudges and anger?

Carter Borden never fully recovered from the heartbreak of his ex-wife leaving him. What happens to a damaged man who begins to believe in magic once again?

Follow two men -- Luke and Carter -- as they learn the one truth about Violet's magic (that it's an only an illusion) and the one truth about her love (that it's not).

REVIEW
I often read a story and know right away how I'm going to review it and how many stars I'm going to give it. It was a very different scenario with Violets & Violence. The magic that's written on the pages goes far beyond just words in a book... and that's no illusion.

Magic is all about slight of hand, carefully lighted sets and fooling ones mind to believe something took place that could never possibly have happened. Violet is a master at her craft and a rising star. Everything that she is, it's not real... it's all an illusion. Luke knows this. He knows all about Violet and her secrets, but Carter has no clue what he's gotten involved in. Carter is broken and had stopped believing in the magic of love, until he meets Violet. He needs to overlook the scars of the past and stop over-analyzing the parts of Violet that she shows him... because he'll never see the surprise she has up her sleeves.

One of my favorite quotes from this novel? "Stop focusing on the depreciation of everything, okay? Start living." This one quote sums up everything, to me. Love is often described as magic, but isn't magic just an illusion? You can't go through life thinking that way and waiting for the other shoe to drop. You need to learn to believe... even in the unimaginable.

To me, this book was all about the details, much the same way that a magic trick is. All the little details help make up the bigger picture, but once you start stripping them away... what are you left with? The truth. About 75% of this novel was about the details. The layers keep getting added, until you have no choice but to start peeling them back to make sense of it all. I believed in the illusion. Once the details are stripped away, you can really appreciate the book as a whole. There's no such thing as perfection. It's how you learn to deal with all the faults.

The ending, it was exactly what I hoped it would be. As a reader, you are given enough answers without filling in all the gaps. The gaps... they're one of the best part. You, as the reader, get to go back and fill them in. The best part? That feeling you get long after you finished the last word and realize... you do believe in magic.

I gave this 4 1/2 stars.

As the author of the best-selling mystery romance, Surviving Goodbye, Morgan Parker has written several novels under this pen name. In 2012 and 2013, when he self-published Textual Encounters and Textual Encounters: 2, respectively, he was absolutely floored that anyone would want to read his stories. So he wrote non friction, an unconventional love story. That love story earned Mr. Parker a tremendous amount of attention and at the insistence of his readers, he followed it with Hope (a novella) and Sick Day. All three of those stories have spent time on Amazon best-seller lists. Currently, he is preparing Violets & Violence for publication in late-2014.
When not writing, Morgan likes to spend time gathering writing material from his two young children, reading and napping where he discovered the Type II Sleep State, which is the topic for his 2015 release, Anna Graham.

♦ ♦ Losing Her by Mariah Dietz ♦ Cover Reveal ♦ ♦

Title: Losing Her (His #2)
Author: Mariah Dietz
Release Date: March 1

“I loved her and she left. Maybe I wasn’t enough. Maybe I’ll never be enough.” I’ve been thinking these words since before we even got together.
Everything is new. The old no longer has a place here. Physical items are easy to replace. I'm constantly battling the ones that aren't.
Every thought and memory I have is stained.
By you.
You weren't even there for half of them.
How is she still present even though she left?
I can do this. I’m going to survive losing her.
*** This is the second book of the His Series, and it DOES end with a cliffhanger. The final book of the His Series, Finding Me, will release June 1, 2015***

“Dude, you’ve got to get up.” Jameson sighs as I pull the pillow back over my head. I don’t even know what day it is anymore. I don’t care.
What adds salt to my wounds is the fact that the world keeps turning. People continue waking up and going about their day. The sun rises and sets. I hear kids laugh and play, neighbors greet one another, and birds sing, and all the while I wonder how? How does the entire world appear to be surviving this nightmare of losing her?
****
Hank comes to visit in June. I still haven’t heard from Ace, and yet I’m still staying at my mom’s. I can’t leave. I can’t go back to that house. I’d moved rooms shortly after she left, and now reside in the guest room on the main floor. It’s better this way. There aren’t any pictures of her in here or random memories, like the one of her sitting on my bean bag chair when I was sick last summer. I also don’t have to face the window that looks out onto hers.
Hank knows that I know mom sent for him, hoping that he’d be able to “help” me. She of all people should know that having Hank around isn’t going to help me. He’s fucking married to the love of his life; he doesn’t have a fucking clue about the shit that I’m going through.
Of all things, Hank wants to go camping. I’m sure he thinks that getting away will help. He doesn’t understand that moving rooms has helped me realize I could go to Antarctica, and things wouldn’t change; the distance isn’t going to make the pain any less.
When we get camp set up, Hank opens a cooler and passes me a beer with a giant, shit-eating grin, like we’ve just overcome a huge hurdle. Deciding that I shouldn’t rain on his little douchebag tea party quite yet, I accept the beer with merely a grimace before taking a long swig. Before long, that single swig becomes a chug, and then a guzzle as I consume more alcohol than what three people probably should.
I sit by the fire and close my eyes. My mind automatically reaches back into that locked and forbidden drawer to pull out the image of Ace, striving to recall the sound of her laugh, the feel of her touch. It brings me back to our camping trip last September, when Jameson announced that was what he wanted to do for his birthday.

“There are times when you should respond to a crisis with dignity and a level head. This was not one of those times.”

Whether it stems from love or a sense of responsibility, Anja will do whatever it takes to break the curse and set Rob free, but the price might prove too high. Knowing the circumstances that led to Rob’s betrayal, Anja does her best to forgive him – but can she forget? And where does Bishop’s long lost Sire fit in? Bishop’s made no secret of the fact that he loves Anja, but will that love survive when Carys crooks her finger? Carys has spent her entire life being catered to and adored; what will she think of this newbie vamp who’s taken her place at Jakob’s side and in Bishop’s heart? “I know the hunger you’re feeling.”

“Beg pardon?” was all that tumbled out when he advanced another step and I retreated, backing up slowly.

He licked his lips, leaving them juicy and ripe for the tasting. “Under the skin, burning hot until you feel like you’ll go up in flames. I can satisfy that craving.”

My mind literally went blank. All the words winked out of existence, leaving only the last five he’d just uttered. My lips parted, but not a sound came out except for the breath that rushed past my teeth as he backed me up against the door.

“You need to feed.”

I wasn’t sure if that negated or supported the double entendre he’d been weaving, but it did un-stick my tongue. “Oh… oh right. Yes, I guess I do.” I’d spent so much time making sure he was well fed I’d neglected my own appetite.

“Go on then, have a taste. I’ve fed well enough today. I’ve got enough to spare.”

My mouth watered at the thought, that tantalizing taste earlier at the feeder club just enough to make me thirst for more. But it was such a bad idea on so many levels, the least being, he needed to hang onto his blood more than I did.

“Oh… I don’t think that’s such a good idea.” Our boundaries were already fuzzy enough. Throwing feeding into the mix was bound to make it even more murky.

“You sure?” He leaned in close, inhaling slowly, as if savoring the scent of my hair. “I think we can do better than good.”

I am a writer, wife and mother of two currently living in the Pacific Northwest. I am a complete TV addict (have to have it on at all times, even when I'm writing). I also enjoy online RPG's, singing, reading, cooking... lots more I can't think of at the moment.

The supernatural has long been my favorite to write and read. Werewolves, vampires, witchcraft, ghosts, things that go bump in the night; these are a few of my favorite things to write about. Not sparkly beings with phenomenal cosmic power that are always the smartest, bravest, prettiest Mary Sue to walk the planet, but real people who just happen to have this little quirk...
