Synopsis
Seth is back.

When he walked back into my life, it almost felt like the pieces of my broken heart could be fixed. I thought we could go back to being best friends, but then I started to feel what I had been blocking out for years. I tried. Boy, did I try! But once I started to let him in, I wanted nothing more than to cross that line from friendship into something more…

Just when I think I can move on and let myself be happy, an ugly reminder from my past comes storming in and threatens to destroy the sliver of hope that's been growing since Seth came back.

Do I even deserve to be loved?

“I’m not asking to fix your heart. I’m not asking to mend you. I love each and every shattered piece of you. I’m asking that you let me love you. Let me love each piece of your broken heart, and I swear to you I will make up for every heartache you have ever experienced.”

I came back for Josie.

I knew I'd have to fight for her, but with the loss of her dad and the truth about what happened with her and Blake, I quickly realized that making her mine was going to be a lot harder than I first thought. The problem is, I can’t pretend like she’s just my best friend. I can’t pretend I don’t want more.

I'm willing to do anything to get her to admit she has the same passionate feelings for me, because I know once she opens up and stops lying to herself, I can show her what it really means to be loved. It's a battle of wills, but my love for her is stronger than her will to stop me.

So I fight for her. I fight because I know she deserves it.

ANDI
Our usual table is inhabited by the usual suspects – Shane, Will, Brandon and of course, Luke. He has his back to me and doesn’t know I’m here yet. So I walk to the DJ booth and tell him to queue up a song for me. I had a few drinks at the pub we just left, I’m pissed and I’m really fucking hurt, so I’m going to take it out on the stage. The song, Just A Fool, is actually a duet between Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton, but tonight I’m singing it solo. And I’m singing it with every bit of emotion I have bubbling just below the surface of my cool façade. The lyrics are perfect for me right now. I obviously feel like a fool because I can’t get over him and I can’t let him go, but I know I should. I feel like I’m weak for wanting him to make this all up to me. For even thinking I could forgive him if he would just do something to take this pain away. Love feels like a cruel joke and no one has hurt me in the way that he has. I just want to forget about love and about him, but somehow he’s in every thought I have and every move I make. I leave the stage and a friend from the gym I haven’t seen in a while stops me and asks me to dance with him. Another slow song is playing so I step into his embrace and we take the opportunity to catch up. He asks how I’m holding up, knowing how bad my life sucks right now, and I give him a non-committal shrug of my shoulders. Christina taps on my arm and her gaze suddenly shifts and I turn to see what she’s looking at. Oh. It’s Luke and he is charging forward like a bull, hell-bent on his destination. Which happens to be me at the moment. “Andi,” he barks at me. “Yes,” I reply smugly. I watch intently as he grits his teeth and clenches and flexes his hands. His anger is barely contained and he’s working hard at restraining himself. I know I’m not helping it but I’m no more in the mood to be fucked with right now than he is. “I need you to come with me,” he finally says. “No.” He nods his head, seemingly understandingly, until I realize that I read him completely wrong. He just decided he wasn’t going to argue with me. In the typical method of the men in my life, he picks me up with ease, throws me over his shoulder, and charges back to the front door. People watch with amused expressions as I scream obscenities at him like a lunatic until he reaches the door. Then I realize we’re going outside and there may be cameras that catch me actually acting like a lunatic so I stop. “Luke – do not walk out that door with me over your shoulder. I’m in the news enough as it is. I don’t need to add any more to it,” I say in my sternest voice possible. This stops him in his tracks and I know he hears the words I didn’t say – thanks to your family. He puts me down but doesn’t let go of me. “Then walk with me like a normal person would.” I sigh heavily, not hiding my dislike of his demand, and respond with the typical pissed-off female response. “Fine.”

*Synopsis*

She has a secret.

I’m complicated. Not broken or ruined or running from a past I can’t face. Just complicated.

I thought my life couldn’t get any more tangled in deceit and confusion. But I hadn’t met him. I hadn't realized how far I could fall or what I'd do to get free.

He has a secret.

I’ve never pretended to be good or deserving. I chase who I want, do what I want, act how I want.

I didn’t have time to lust after a woman I had no right to lust after. I told myself to shut up and stay hidden. But then she tried to run. I’d tasted what she could offer me and damned if I would let her go.

One secret destroys them.

**REVIEW**

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I took me a few days to read this book, but not because I didn't like it. Pepper Winters' writing takes time to read. I find it so descriptive and expressive. Very few writers (IMO) have the talent to do this.

First, the bad. This book is LONG. I found some of the dialogue to be a little repetitive.

This is another book that I didn't read the synopsis before diving in. I saw 'dark read', 'stand alone' & 'Pepper Winters' and couldn't wait to start reading.

The best piece of the puzzle to this story, I can't share because it would be a HUGE spoiler. Zel and Fox are undeniably drawn to each other , but they are both so utterly broken that there is no way they can possibly survive each other. There are so many facets to each of them. Just when you think you know, a layer is peeled away and you're left feeling emotionally raw.

The second half of this book is so dark and depressing and just heart breaking. It'll bring you to a place that, I promise, you won't like... but keep reading. It's overwhelmingly beautiful in the end that you'll be happy you stuck it out.

I am giving this book 4.25 stars

COVER REVEAL - High Class Harlot by Delia Steele

High Class Harlot (Book 2 in the Switching Tracks Series)
By: Delia Steele
Release Date: April 2014
Genre: NA, Contemporary Romance
Goodreads Link: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/20999523-high-class-harlot?from_search=true

People spend their whole lives being condescending cockstars. Assuming they know something when they don’t. Assuming they know who someone is when they have no idea. Assuming that, because they can see something, they understand it. Let me tell you right now, STOP ASSUMING! Until you walk a day in someone’s gold-studded hooker heels, you do not know them or their story. Do not assume your struggle is worse simply because it’s yours. Do not assume they are ok just because they look to be so. And do not assume you are a better person simply because someone chooses to sin differently than you.

My family has money. We buy what we want without fear of being destitute, and we will never worry about having food or any other necessities. My struggle in life is not with the money, but where it comes from. My father’s secret is carrying a hefty price tag that I can no longer afford. My soul is priceless, and he is stripping it away from me. My world isn’t all rainbows, sparkle, and diamonds falling from my exit hole like Rory’s story portrayed. For every high, there is a low, and the higher you go, the further you have to fall.

I have the best things in life, except for life itself. Everyone I love has moved away; my passion to exist has deflated; my job is a joke; but more than anything, I hate who I am allowing myself to become. Is there anyone strong enough to hold my hand on this road to self-preservation, or am I to travel it alone?
If you start my story, please find it in yourself to finish it before you judge me. Don’t assume you can know where I am headed without seeing where I have already been. I am Amandolette Riaz, and I am a glitzed-up glitch in today’s delicate world.

Trailer Park Princess(Book 1)
Sypnosis
Rory used to count down the days until she could leave, but now with a younger brother in tow, it would be hard. She could never leave him. Rory is trapped in the Trailer Park like a princess in her tower, with her mother playing the big bad, drunken, fire-breathing dragon.  The dream of her knight coming to save her faded away about the same time her goals changed. Feeling useless, and angry Rory starts her new school and gets trampled by none other than the Monroe Falls Golden Boy, Tobias West. She finds herself seeing him as the knight she dreamed of; though, she believes it to be just that, a dream. Tobias (Toby) is Mr. Popular/Mr. Perfect/Mr. Money-in-the-bank. He is too high on the social ladder to step down to her level. Or is he?  Toby is smitten with Rory. Toby’s ex, Ashley, refuses to lose out to trailer park trash, and Rory finds herself the fuel to Ashley’s newfound hate. On top of Monroe Falls High School drama, Rory still has to deal with her drunken mother and needy brother. She doesn’t have time for childish games. Reality hits Rory hard when her mother brings home a ticking time bomb for a bed mate and the need for that shiny knight becomes real.  Rome appears like she conjured him out of thin air with magical powers, and instantly becomes her best friend. He seems to always be around when she needs someone to talk to and seems to always know just how to fix it. (Did I mention he is drop dead beautiful?) Two knights in shining armor? Nope!! That doesn’t happen. Not in fairy tales, and definitely not in real life. Rory finds herself realizing there is a thin line between relationships and friendships, lines that are starting to blur. With Toby getting ready to leave for college, Ashley’s nonstop meanness, and Rome showing up, can Rory handle the pressure? Her old friend reality takes another whack at her, causing her dread and despair to take over. Rory is questioning herself, and it's wreaking havoc on the strong girl she’s always considered herself to be. Have her poor choices doomed her to life in the trailer park, or will she be able to exceed even her own expectations?  Will she ever realize she is truly a princess worthy of getting her prince? Or will she simply survive? How does Rory’s story end?

This book is suited best for readers over the age of 17 due to sexual content and some language, as well as a few different types of abuse that are rarely talked about: Verbal, Mental, and to some extent, Sexual and Physical

Cover Reveal Mr. Beautiful

Mr. Beautiful (Up in the Air #4)

From R.K. Lilley's blog: Mr. Beautiful will be a male point-of-view novel for the Up in the Air series that tells the story of James, and Stephan, and their unwavering love of a woman that would make the two men family.

WARNING: THIS TEASER CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR THE UP IN THE AIRSERIES

JAMES

I couldn’t sleep after the shooting.

Bianca slept like a baby, like she never had before, like every worry she’d ever had had disappeared with the death of her father.

But not me. I was more restless than ever. A miracle had saved her, not me, and I felt helpless because of it. That was not a feeling that fit me well. In fact, it made my skin crawl in discomfort. In anger.

It had been months since the attack. She and Stephan were healed physically, and it seemed, emotionally, but I felt the wounds as though they were fresh. What had almost happened haunted me. I was a man that needed control, and I’d been shown, in the starkest way possible, that I hadnone.

I sat scant feet away from our bed, watching Bianca sleep. She was nude, with not so much as a sheet covering her. I’d seen to that. I watched her lithe form shift on the bed, one long leg hitching up to give me a glimpse of the pink between her legs. </ div>

I felt like a fucking stalker. Truth be told, I was one, watching her for hours on end, night after night.

I tensed when I realized she’d roused. It upset her that I couldn’t sleep, when she deserved peace more than anyone.

She sat up, and I watched her heavy breasts swaying with the movement. “James.” Her voice was the softest utterance.

“Love,” I answered, feeling the dark mood that had overtaken me lift in an instant. Just having her eyes on me could do that.

She crawled across the bed toward me. She’d always had an uncanny ability to do exactly the thing that would drive me the most wild, and she’d only gotten better at that over time. She didn’t hide her body from me as she moved. In fact, she posed for me, even the exposure of her body an act of submission. As though reading my thoughts, as though even those were a command, she paused on the edge of the bed, parting her legs to let me look my fill before she rose, approaching my chair.

I stood to meet her, my body drawn tight, my cock throbbing as though I hadn’t come, buried inside of her, just hours before.

I was a statue as she leaned up to my ear, my brows drawing together in a question. Her lips touched my ear as she spoke.

“Hurt me,” she whispered raggedly.

My eyes shut tight, my jaw went slack, and a shudder wracked my entire body. This woman destroyed my self-control.

I’d avoided all of the rough stuff since she’d been injured, but God had I missed it.</ div>

“We don’t have to, Bianca. It’s not necess-“

She gripped my hair, pulling my face down to her injured cheek. She dug her jaw into me so hard that I knew it must be hurting her badly.

“I need it,” she rasped into my ear. “I’ll never stop needing it. Please.”

I pulled back, and my hands trembled as I cupped her face in my hands, my eyes searching hers desperately for what I wanted to see. Need. Yes. She needed this as much as I did. Perhaps more so.

“Get on the bed,” I told her thickly.

Finally giving up on sleep, she climbed from bed and gathered her clothes to take into the bathroom for a long hot shower, hopeful the hot water would dislodge the myriad of inappropriate thoughts that had started to march through her sleep-deprived brain.
Star knew Shane was too young for her. He'd barely begun to live his life and in her thirty years she'd already lived enough for both of them combined. There was an undeniable attraction, she couldn't dispute that. Holding him, comforting him, as she had just a few short hours ago left her craving more of his touch. She gritted her teeth and turned up the water temperature as she scrubbed her body. "Why is it the men I'm attracted to are always wrong for me? For once, why can't I like the nerdy, science geek with a big brain instead of a big…ego," she huffed. After her shower, she wiped the fog from the mirror and studied the lines in her face. Time had not been kind to her, especially the time spent with Derek. She smoothed the skin around her eyes, suddenly wondering how much a face-lift would set her back. A more close-up inspection advised her that more than a couple new gray hairs had sprouted, seemingly overnight, as well.</ span> "Are you going to be much longer?" Shane's muffled voice asked from the other side of the bathroom door causing her to jump. "Just a few more minutes, sorry," she answered. She hurriedly dried off and scrambled into her clothes. When she opened the door, he sat on the floor facing her, his back against the wall. He beamed mischievously up at her, and something warm pooled inside of her. She smiled back and said, "I guess I kind of lost track of time." "No worries. As long as there's hot water left, I don't mind." He held his hand out to her. "Help me up, Blue," he asked. She tugged him to his feet and he seemed reluctant to let go of her hand. He gave her fingers a quick squeeze. Holy hell I'm melting here. She thought. The tips of her ears started to burn and she withdrew her hand from his. "All yours," she whispered and turned to go to her room. She couldn't be sure, it may have been her overactive imagination, or wishful thinking, but she could have sworn she heard him say "I wish," before he disappeared into the bathroom.
Star fanned herself and sat down on the corner of her bed. If he had remembered having the nightmare, or her rocking him back to sleep afterwards, it wasn't evident in the tundra-melting smile he'd given her. She wasn't sure how she felt about that. Was she disappointed that he hadn't remembered, or relieved?

REVIEW
** I was provided an arc in exchange for an honest opinion**

This story picks up where the first one ended. This is Gabe’s story. No worries though, you still get some of the characters from book one!!

Gabe is hot, steamy, sexy, funny, outspoken yet broken. He is a natural bad boy with tattoos and piercings. I loved him in book one.

Saylor, is trying her hardest to get thru school to help her family. Music is her escape. She meets Gabe when she is getting ready to go and practice. Actually, she runs into him.... literally!! They have an instant connection and when your are reading you can feel it.

Everyone has a past. Some worse than others. What happens when the secrets you've tried to keep hidden come back in your face?

This has got to be hands down, one of the best books I have ever read! Its raw and emotional yet you feel as if it is real! Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen, there was a twist! I laughed, cried, swooned, and downright fell in love with this book! I have read all of Rachel’s books, but so far, this one is at the top of my list. Her writing pulls you in and you cant help but fall in love with not only the book, but the characters as well! As always she did an amazing job!! looking forward to reading the next part!

5 out of 5 amazing stars

teaser 2
EXCERPT: With slight pressure, Gabe moved my hands to the piano, slowly, effortlessly placing them on each key. He was playing through me, using my body as an instrument to convey the story of his life. Each time he pressed down on one of my fingertips or guided me to another area of the piano, I felt the sadness of the song clench deeper. The notes became floating tendrils of pain, each one of them slowly invading my body and taking hold until it hurt to breathe. He moved faster and faster, my hands couldn’t keep up. I pulled back as he continued the song, in such a rush it was like he was yelling but doing it with music. Unable to convey it in any other way. With a final burst of movement, he lifted his hands off the piano and smashed them against the keys, causing a chaos of notes to burst forth. Gabe’s breathing was uneven, ragged as he leaned heavily against me, his chin resting on my head, and he whispered brokenly, “I can’t.” “You were doing so good.” “It’s like getting into a car with suicidal tendencies. You keep going faster and faster, needing the adrenaline to keep you alive until suddenly you turn the wheel and everything goes black. The notes, they go higher and higher, and right when I feel like I can change the outcome — I panic. Some things…” He sighed and pulled away. “Some things are better left in chaos.” “Are you sure about that? Are you sure about perfection?” I folded my hands in my lap, but didn’t turn around. “Sure.” He moved from behind me and sat on the bench. “If life was perfect, how in the hell would we ever learn to depend on someone other than ourselves? If anything, that’s what life’s taught me. The need to be perfect is stemmed in the very belief that it’s actually something we can achieve. Self-actualization — doesn’t exist.” I licked my lips and looked down at the keys. “Does that mean we don’t try then?” “No.” Gabe tickled a few of the ivory keys in front of him, the music note tattoos on his fingertips looking darker against the white of the piano. “It just means when you reach the end of your rope, you shouldn’t regret a damn thing, but applaud yourself for trying to do the impossible.” I felt like he was using double meanings. The philosophical Gabe was a bit terrifying because he made me feel more insecure than the jackass Gabe. But the guy sitting next to me right now? I was beginning to understand, he wasn’t just one person. He was every person, everything, whatever he needed to be, he was. Like a chameleon. And suddenly the ending to the story made sense. Ten different notes all clamoring at once. Chaos. Gabe was Chaos. “So.” He sniffed and cleared his throat. “Now that I’ve totally ruined the moment by talking in my serious voice and scaring the shit out of you — why don’t we work on one of your performance pieces?” “Okay.” I placed my hands on the piano again, careful to angle my wrists at the perfect degree and keep my eyes on the music ahead. Sometimes I wondered if my posture was better than my playing. “What the hell are you doing?” he asked in calm voice. I turned and gave him a firm nod . “I’m getting ready.” “To go to battle?” “What?” I relaxed my hands a bit. “No.” I straightened. “This is the right posture, it’s—” “If you say perfect, I’m going to kill myself.” “Someone should have majored in drama.” He burst out laughing. “Oh, honey, you have no idea.” “So?” I lifted my wrists again and looked ahead. “Fine.” He smirked. “Play just like that.” “Okay.” I started one of my harder pieces, Piano Sonata 14. It felt exactly the same. The movement wasn’t as fast as some of the others, but the timing for it had to be perfect. “Close your eyes,” Gabe instructed. “But—” He swatted my wrists. “No arguing with your piano master.” “Fine.” “Say ‘yes, master’.” I smiled tightly, my eyes focusing on the music in front of me. I started slowly playing. “Not in this lifetime.” “Bet I could make you say it.” His voice had an arrogant lift to it, which made me all the more irritated. Master? Um, no. “Eyes.” He growled again. With a resigned sigh, I closed my eyes. “Better?” “Immensely,” he said smoothly. Darkness enveloped my world. All I had were the notes at my fingertips. All I had was the music — that and Gabe. He wasn’t saying anything. Which killed me. It also made me want to open my eyes, but I knew he’d probably just tell me to close them again, so I kept playing. And then, with a teasing touch, his fingers grazed my chin, slowly tilting it down toward the piano while his other hand went to my upper back then slowly moved down until it was in the middle, with a gentle push, he urged my body closer to the keys. Eyes closed, posture completely off, I leaned over the piano. Everything felt wrong as I continued playing. “Slower,” he said softly. With a sigh, I started playing slower. His hands moved to my hips. And stayed there. Other than jumping a foot, I was still able to concentrate. “The music,” he whispered, “It’s not just your story — it’s your lover.” “Okay,” I squeaked. Heat washed over me as the word lover bounced around in my brain. I knew it, but I’d never experienced it. How was I supposed to use something I didn’t know how to use? And how embarrassing was it that I was stuck in that tiny room having never been… stuck in a tiny room with any guy? Lover. I’d take him. If I got a choice. It would be him. But people like Gabe, beautiful people who had music in their soul, who knew how to speak without words… they weren’t for girls like me. “Each stroke…” His hands pressed against my hips making me gasp. “You need to feel it not just on your fingertips — but everywhere.” Holy. Crap. “Feel it here,” he squeezed and then ran his hands lightly up my sides, then resting right underneath my breasts, he pressed again. “And here.” My breathing picked up speed, as did my music. “Slow down,” he commanded in that same irritating patient tone. “Where is this story taking me? Where are you taking your lover?” “Huh?” I breathed. “Use your hands to tell me the story — use your body to propel the story forward, what happens next… Tell the story, Saylor. Make me feel it without even touching you.” “But — that’s impossible.” “You can feel a kiss without touching someone’s lips.” “I’m confused.” “Concentrate.” Gabe’s voice was firm. “I want to kiss you.” “What?” He was lucky I didn’t actually collapse against the piano this time. “In the story.” He chuckled. “I want to kiss you in this story, so kiss me.” “You want me to get up and kiss you?” Mind you, I was still trying to play a difficult piece as he was asking me this, which basically meant I must have had talent, because my body was on fire. “Without our mouths meeting.” “Through the music.” I clarified in a doubtful voice. I could hear the smile in his tone as he answered. “Yes, through the music, show me what the kiss would feel like. I want to taste it.” “But how?” He laughed softly. “I’m touching them.” “What?” “My lips,” he countered. “They’re soft, open, wet…” I squirmed on the piano bench, squeezing my eyes shut. “What else?” “As I part my lips… I wonder what your tongue tastes like, what type of pressure you’d use as you pressed your velvety smooth mouth against mine. I imagine exploring your mouth not just because I want to — but because I can’t help it. I’m lost. And your kiss is my salvation… so, Saylor, will you save me?” My fingers glided effortlessly over the piano as I imagined his mouth — the way he smiled, the way he took his lower lip hostage when he was deep in thought. The dark look he got in his eyes when there was something he wanted. Our kiss would be epic. The music picked up speed as I leaned over the piano, pounding each note with the rhythm of my footsteps as I approached him. His hands would reach for my hips as he pulled me closer. My hands hovered over the keys making my hesitation known. And then I pressed softly against the ivory, leaning forward as if I was leaning into Gabe with my body pressed against his. My breasts brushed the keys. I moved closer to the piano and then slowed the music. His eyes would close. His lips would part. And we’d meet in the middle — because both of us wanted the same thing. Both of us wanted to taste, to explore, to feel. I slowed my left hand as my right hand moved quicker across the keys, to show the anticipation. And then, our mouths would touch. I pounded the keys with my left hand, making it the loudest part of the piece which wasn’t normally how it was done. Our tongues would tangle. I pounded the piano harder. His fingers would dig into my arms as he lifted me into the air. I pulled back from the piano, stopping the music, and then gently started the rhythmic cadence again. Our kiss was the perfect joining of music. He was the left hand, I was the right. Separate they sounded like silly scales. Together — they were beautiful. When I stopped the piece, I was sweating. “Open your eyes,” Gabe whispered. He was breathing so heavily it looked like he’d just run a marathon. With a smile he tucked my fallen hair behind my ear and tilted my chin toward him. “That…” He leaned in. “…is how you perform. Like every kiss is both your first and last — like you’re saying both hello and goodbye — like you’ve just been born… like you’ve just died.”   Toxic RDL Banner   Author PhotoRachel Van Dyken Bio: Rachel Van Dyken is the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today Bestselling author of regency and contemporary romances. Rare and Precious Things by Raine Miller - BLOG TOUR

Title: RARE AND PRECIOUS THINGS
(The Blackstone Affair Book 4)
Author: RAINE MILLER
hosted by: The Book Avenue

The fourth part in the New York Times bestselling series, The Blackstone Affair: A bright beginning for two damaged souls fighting for their hard-won love, and the promise of a new hope to secure their happily ever after.

Fresh from an idyllic honeymoon along the Italian coast, the Blackstones prepare for the birth of their precious baby and the challenges of settling into a new home. But things get complicated when specters from the past reappear to threaten the very foundation of their relationship. Ethan and Brynne will have to fight harder than ever for each other. Rare and Precious Things is the story of two people who both need the other in order to be complete, but learn just how "rare" their brand of love is when they have to risk everything in order to hold onto it.

“BELLA, you look magnificent, the glow in your cheeks, everything, is utter perfection.” Marco, kissed me on both cheeks as was custom, then held me at arm’s length for a thorough perusal. “Lovely dress. I can see that marriage and motherhood is agreeing with you, darling.”

I felt Ethan’s hand at my back soften and relax at Marco’s friendly, but appropriate greeting. Maybe he’d get over his paranoia that Marco was trying to bag me every time he photographed me. Ethan just didn’t understand that Marco wasn’t like that at all. He was a professional photographer doing a job with me, and nothing more. Well, nothing more than a working, platonic friendship. He’d always been kind to me, and I liked working with Marco Carvaletti very much. I hoped Ethan could see it here tonight as we all interacted.

“It is, Marco, and I don’t think I could be any happier.” I leaned into Ethan, nudging him to speak up.

“Mr. Carvaletti, thank you for the invitation. We’ve been looking forward to this all day.” Ethan lied smoothly, offering his hand, playing the social gentleman to perfection, which he was well skilled at. I guess he did it out of love for me. I knew he didn’t want to be here anymore than he wanted me modeling. I mouthed a thank you only visible to him. He kissed me on the cheek and whispered in my ear, “Don’t forget about Simba, baby.” Then he wandered off to get drinks for us.

Marco took me on a tour of his elegantly restored 17th century villa as I marveled at all of the art. He had a whole room set up as a gallery of his photographs. There were a couple of me in there. One where I sat in a formal chair with one knee up, strategically placed, my expression far away and pensive. The other pose was a side view recreation of a vintage Ziegfeld Follies girl with a feather boa and some satin pumps. It was one of the first portraits I posed for and I really thought it was nicely choreographed.

“It is a beautiful piece, bella. I knew when we did that series you had the gift.” Marco stood behind me admiring the image he had created with me as the subject.

“I was so nervous posing, but you made me laugh when you told me to imagine Iggy Pop in a dress.” I shrugged. “That broke the ice and I was fine after that.”

“That one works for me every time, bella.”

“Well, Iggy Pop in a dress is funny, so good job, Marco.” We laughed together and made our way back to the main gathering.

Where was Ethan with my drink? I scanned the room for sight of him, but didn’t see his tall form standing out among the crowd anywhere. And I needed water.

“He is talking to Carolina and Rogelio, my friends,” Marco said, correctly reading my quest to find Ethan. “I believe they have discovered they are acquainted already.”

Really? Ethan knew people at this party? I suppose it wasn’t as bad as he’d predicted it would be after all. Couldn’t wait to bust him about his whining to come here.

“Oh, well that’s great. I look forward to meeting them. But first, I need to get some water. I’m really thirsty after spending a long time swimming in the ocean today. Must be all the salt.”

“Come with me, bella, I will take care of you.”

Raine Miller has been reading romance novels since she picked up that first Barbara Cartland book at the tender age of thirteen. And it's a safe bet she'll never stop, because now she writes them too! Granted Raine's stories are edgy enough to turn Ms. Cartland in her grave, but to her way of thinking, a hot, sexy hero never goes out of fashion. A part-time teacher and writer of sexy romance stories every other chance she gets pretty much fills her days. She has a handsome prince of a husband, and two brilliant sons to pull her back into the real world if the writing takes her too far away. Her sons know she likes to write stories, but gratefully have never asked to read any, thank God! Raine loves to hear from readers and to chat about the characters in her books.
