Synopsis
Calvin Parish
They call me Hero. I defend. I protect. I ask for nothing in return, and that makes me good. Doesn’t it? That which makes me the ultimate predator also feeds dark impulses I’ve learned to control—until I bring her too close. For years I’ve watched her from afar, but what started out as duty has become obsession.
Cataline Ford
I work hard. I play by the rules. I’m content. My scars are quiet and invisible, and that keeps me hidden. Doesn’t it? One fateful walk home, I’m taken by someone I didn’t know I should fear. Captive and afraid, nobody will tell me why I’m confined to this hauntingly beautiful mansion. I’m given everything; I have nothing. He takes what he needs from me, and for that I hate him. But I might have loved him once. And just because you’re reading this doesn’t mean I survive him.

Excerpt
Because I’m lost in my thoughts, I don’t hear Cataline enter the room. Her tight black dress cuts across her mid-thighs, and her cleavage teases from a plummeting neckline. She’s done her makeup for probably the second time since arriving at the mansion. “What is this?” I ask, narrowing my eyes. “What?” Jasmine drifts under my nose as she walks away from me to her seat. “I told you not to dress up for dinner.” “I thought you’d like it,” she says, lowering herself gracefully into the chair. Her back is straight as a rod, and her fingers are laced. “You don’t?” Norman decorates the table with food as I stare Cataline down. He clears his throat. “For dinner, we have—” “Leave us.” He pauses. Though my eyes are still fastened on Cataline, I know he’s watching me as he bows his head. “As you wish, sir.” I stand and slowly walk the line of the long table. My footsteps echo through the hall, appropriately menacing. I’ve just come from a burning building but am back in my suit and tie to maintain appearances. And my ridiculous glasses, which I remove and toss aside. She’ll believe I’ve just returned from the office. When I’m standing over her, she tugs up the neckline of the dress and blinks at me. I resist smirking as she tucks hair behind her ear twice. “Well,” she says, “aren’t we going to eat?” “I’m going to eat.” “I’m not?” “As far as I’m concerned, there’s only one meal at this table, and it’s you.” My ears pick up her slow swallow, my eyes the curl of her hands in her lap. “That sounds like a threat,” she says quietly. I bend over, flatten one hand on the table and wrap the other around the arm of her chair. “It’s not. This is a threat: if you’re not naked and spread out on this table in two seconds, I’m going to spank you so hard, you won’t know up from down.”   heartdividerPost

REVIEW:

The author gifted me this book and I offered to give it an honest review in return.

I have to start with, this isn't the typical romance type book that I read. I honestly might have passed this book over if the book wasn't brought to my attention by someone following the blog. It's written by a guy, which made me apprehensive. I've read 'romance' books written by guys and they are either hit or miss. They either are horribly wrong or they hit the mark. This book definitely hit the mark!

A quick synopsis of the book, Morgan Barker finds himself in a bad situation after 12 years of marriage. His wife has decided to just up and leave and take their young daughter with her. Not knowing what to do, he ends up writing a book that becomes an Amazon top seller. He quickly finds out that self publishing a book on Amazon doesn't amount to all he thought it would. He starts writing 'Our Story' in hopes to win his wife (and his safe routine) back. The problem? He also meets Emma, who makes him feel like maybe there is hope for him. Does he continue the impossible task of winning back his wife or try to start new with Emma (who has her own personal baggage)?

I love that this book is written by Morgan Parker (a fictional name) about a fictional character named Morgan Barker. The writing in this book is top notch. Parker's writing lets you visualize every scene and you feel what Morgan is feeling. There are scenes that are really funny and other parts that you just really feel for Morgan and his situation. I also love how you see Morgan's character evolve through the story. Although, he makes mistakes, you can't help but hope he gets his 'happy ending'.

I would give this book 4.25 stars. You need to read this book and experience it for yourself. And yes, it is an experience in real life issues and true to life emotions.

Wake Me When the Sun Goes Down

Struggling to find a balance between her former life and her undead one, Anja tries to blend school and living up to her new identity, all while searching to find the elusive Viking, whose blood gave Anja the strength of a vampire hundreds of years old.

Review:

I received this book in exchange for an honest review!

I was skeptical to read this story at first because it’s not my typical kind of book I would read but I said what the hell and read it anyway. Once I started reading I started getting more and more into the book to the point I was addicted!
Within the first chapter you automatically know the story is going to be full of twist, turns, mystery, and will leave you intrigued.

Anja is not your average vampire, she is a newborn who was abandoned. She did not know what was wrong with her at first, but when she find out she fights not to lose her humanity and embraces what she has become. You immediately cheer for her and hope she overcomes every obstacle in her path. Add in the sexy hot and cold alpha male Bishop, who will stop at nothing to keep Anja away…will he succeed or will he give in and help her?

I highly recommend this book! I give 4 stars out of 5

This book took me on an emotional roller coaster ride. One moment I was laughing and the next I was literally crying (I think my husband might think I've totally lost my mind). And in between the laughter and crying I was swept up in romance and the suspense of it all. T.K. Leigh manages to bring me to my knees emotionally through her obviously carefully selected words. … Needless to say this book is a must read. Once you start you will NOT be able to stop. I give it a solid 6 stars out of 5. That's right, for the second time since I started reviewing books I'm giving this book a 6 out of 5 star rating. It really is just that good. - Book Cracker Caroline My honest opinion is I'm speechless, just couldn't get enough of this awesome book, let alone put it down. This book had you gripping on the edge, waiting to see what happens, with a lot of twist and turns and heartache in the process. - Booky Ramblings This is a fantastic series and I cannot wait to find out what happens next. T.K. Leigh, otherwise known as Tracy Leigh Kellam, is a producer / attorney by trade. Originally from New England, she now resides in sunny Southern California with her husband, dog and three cats, all of which she has rescued (including the husband). She always had a knack for writing, but mostly in the legal field. It wasn’t until recently that she decided to try her hand at creative writing and is now addicted to creating different characters and new and unique story lines in the Contemporary Romantic Suspense genre. Her debut novel “A Beautiful Mess” has garnered relative praise, having been an Amazon Best Seller, an Amazon Top-Rated book. Recently, the book was named by The Guardian as a top reader-recommended self-published book of 2013 as well as a 2013 Reader’s Favorite in Publisher’s Weekly in addition to being named an Amazon Romance Editor’s Fan Favorite for Top Debut Author and Best Page Turner. When she’s not planted in front of her computer, writing away, she can be found running and training for her next marathon (of which she has run over fifteen fulls and far too many halfs to recall). Unlike Olivia, the main character in her Beautiful Mess series, she has yet to qualify for the Boston Marathon.

Review: Trailer Park Princess (Switching Tracks Series) by Delia Steele

Trailer Park Princes
Delia Steele

Synopsis:

Rory used to count down the days until she could leave, but now with a younger brother in tow, it would be hard. She could never leave him. Rory is trapped in the Trailer Park like a princess in her tower, with her mother playing the big bad, drunken, fire-breathing dragon. The dream of her knight coming to save her faded away about the same time her goals changed. Feeling useless, and angry Rory starts her new school and gets trampled by none other than the Monroe Falls Golden Boy, Tobias West. She finds herself seeing him as the knight she dreamed of; though, she believes it to be just that, a dream. Tobias (Toby) is Mr. Popular/ Mr. Perfect/ Mr. Money-in-the-bank. He is too high on the social ladder to step down to her level. Or is he? Toby is smitten with Rory. Toby’s ex, Ashley, refuses to lose out to trailer park trash, and Rory finds herself the fuel to Ashley’s new found hate. On top of Monroe Falls High School drama, Rory still has to deal with her drunken mother and needy brother. She doesn’t have time for childish games. Reality hits Rory hard when her mother brings home a ticking time bomb for a bed mate and the need for that shiny knight becomes real. Rome appears like she conjured him out of thin air with magical powers, and instantly becomes her best friend. He seems to always be around when she needs someone to talk to and seems to always know just how to fix it. (Did I mention he is drop dead beautiful?) Two knights in shining armor? Nope!! That doesn’t happen. Not in fairy tales, and definitely not in real life. Rory finds herself realizing there is a thin line between relationships and friendships, lines that are starting to blur. With Toby getting ready to leave for college, Ashley’s nonstop meanness, and Rome showing up, can Rory handle the pressure? Her old friend reality takes another whack at her, causing her dread and despair to take over. Rory is questioning herself, and it's wreaking havoc on the strong girl she’s always considered herself to be. Have her poor choices doomed her to life in the trailer park, or will she be able to exceed even her own expectations? Will she ever realize she is truly a princess worthy of getting her prince? Or will she simply survive? How does Rory’s story end?

Review:

Once i started reading Trailer Park Princess I was hooked! Its not your normal book of pretend, it was a real life situation. This story hit very close to home for me. Rory is a sweet girl who always put family first and had to deal with a lot of struggles.

Toby is the guy she has been dating for about a year. He is rich, popular, and a football player. A complete opposite of Rory. Toby is a spoiled jerk who doesn't stand up to his parents and the things he does seriously just piss me off!!

Now there is Rome! Oh where do I begin...Rome is HOT, caring, a very good friend, did I say HOT already? He puts everyone else's needs before his own!

This book was very emotional. I loved how the author wrote it. Delia Steele this was a great read and i highly recommend it!

I give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars!

Review: Overburdened by Elodie Rain

Overburdened
Elodie Rain

Synopsis:

A short erotic story about Mick, who is dead and wanders the earth waiting for his judgement. He blames himself for the death of Amy, the love of his life with whom he had a passionate, but tumultuous relationship. As he wanders, he always returns to her grave and remembers...

He spent every night getting wasted hoping to run into her, and when he does get the chance to take her home, and their passion is scorching, but their different lives threaten to pull them apart.

 Review:

I received this book in exchange for an honest review

This short story is about a Mick, he happens to be deceased. He describes a part of his live when he and Amy had a special yet erotic relationship.

Mick is an ex criminal who cares about nothing but drinking on pretty much a daily basis until he sees her… Amy is a college student who also has a part time job…one night she meets Mick…

This story was good and dark and not my typical read but it made me think. With only 20 pages I enjoyed the quick bond this two people shared. They made each other change and see life in a different way. The author has a talent of pulling the reader in fast and also ending just as fast. I would love for this to be longer and more added to the story. After this read I will look for more stories from this author.

Overall I gave this story a 4 out of 5 stars

A Tragic Wreck (Beautiful Mess #2)

 Synopsis:

Sequel to T.K. Leigh's "A Beautiful Mess."

How can you continue living when you’re living a lie? How can you convince your body to stop feeling, your soul to stop caring, and your heart to stop beating?

Haunted by her past, Olivia Adler flees Boston for a beach in Florida, leaving everyone behind, trying to shut the world out. And when Alexander comes face to face with a shadow of both his and Olivia’s past, will he be able to tell her the secret that is threatening to tear them apart?

 Review:

We received this book in exchange for an honest review, at the blog.

You do need to have read A Beautiful Mess first, because this book picks up a few weeks after it ends. Olivia gets scared and runs to Florida, leaving it all behind. She makes it so no one can find her and she just keeps to herself.... until she catches the eye of a local. He literally helps save her life and tries to help her 'feel' something... anything. Meanwhile, Alexander Burnham can't forget about Olivia. He even starts sleeping with another woman, but everything just reminds him of the one who ran away. Olivia eventually messes up and does something that makes it so Alexander finds her. But it doesn't end up how you think it will.

This book was such an emotional ride that it grabs you right from the first few pages. There are parts that are so heartbreaking, you may need to put the book down and take a break to collect your thoughts. You get both points of view, so you know what both Olivia and Alexander are feeling. The anticipation in this book is just crazy. I actually yelled at Olivia at one point (which is awkward since she's a fictional character) because she made a decision that made things so much more difficult for herself later. And Alex... omg! He evolves and changes so much during the book. At one point you don't know whether to smack him or make out with him (again, awkward..lol). He is the same strong, controlling, alpha male from the first book... only BETTER!

There are questions left unanswered at the end of this book. But we do get closer to putting together the pieces of Olivia's life as a child.

Grab a box of tissues before starting this book... you'll need it!!

This is definitely a 5 star book!!

Reveiw: When It's Love by Emma Lauren

When It's Love
Emma Lauren

Synopsis:

When It's Love is contemporary new adult fiction like you've never read it before.  Sexy from page one, this book follows college student Sydney Morrison as she tries to break away from the dark truth about who she really is. And as she unexpectedly tumbles into a torrid online affair with her professor, she exposes herself in ways she never imagined.

Then Sydney's darkest secret begins to hunt her down just when she thinks she's escaping it. Suddenly nothing is what is seems to be and Sydney finds herself torn between truth and love.

Review:

I received this book in exchange for an honest review!

Sydney Morrison has a dark secret that keeps her from dating. She is deeply depressed and trusts no one. Sydney does have a best friend, Henry that she cares about. Sydney confides in Henry that she has had an uber crush on her older but sexy English teacher, Professor Sparling. The Professor and Sydney start sharing sexual emails this helps Sydney come out of her shell. Then all of sudden her relationship with Henry becomes complicated. What will Sydney do?

First of all let me say this CLIFFHANGER!!!

Ugh! Emma Lauren is an amazing writer this book had me deeply involved with the characters. I love the friendship of Sydney and Henry it funny and caring. While reading you knows there is something wrong and it keeps you guessing. I loved and hated the roller coaster ride equally.

The emails were hot and the sexual scenes where to die for. You will really feel scared when something from Sydney past that could put her in danger; that left me on the end of my bed ready to throw my Kindle. I would have to say my favorite part of this book is seeing Sydney changing throughout the book and you will have to read to figure out what happens. I can’t wait until May for When it’s Over.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Review: Underestimated by Jettie Woodruff

 Underestimated
Jettie Woodruff

Synopsis:

Warning! This is not your everyday fall in love romance. This book contains disturbing situations, strong language, graphic, sexual content, some forced, some not, anal and humiliation. If it's your happily ever after love story that you are looking for, you should probably move on. If you are up for the ride, stick around and it may just turn into a love story after all.
This book could have easily been broken into two parts, however, I decided to make it one so that when you finish the book, you are finished with the book.

Morgan starts her life in hell, she doesn't really know what she wants out of life. She's never had anyone to look up to, or help guide her in the right direction. She had it rough, and never dreamed that it could get worse, however she finds that it can, and does.
She learns what real hell is when she meets the husband that she doesn't want to marry, but nobody gives her a choice. Can she escape? She can, and does only to wake up and find herself back in the hands of the man she ran from.

Review:

From the first chapter of this book I was hooked and definitely took me on a very emotional roller coaster ride! It will have you asking your self....WTF! Some parts I had to stop reading and tell myself I can't believe this is happening!!!!

If you are looking for a loving romance this is not your book! This book is dark, hot, embarrassing, pushing limits and will leave u breathless. This is a story about a girl stuck in the middle of her abuser and the man she fell in love with.  When secrets starts to come out, things are revealed...what do you do??

I absolutely loved Underestimated by Jettie Woodruff. Its definitely a book that I will be rereading.

I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars
